Locked Out!

That is going to be the title of my first "series" of photos. Looking at locks and the way we are prevented from entering certain places with a lock. Should be interesting. Here's my first few (first is on a locked door of an old building at Moondarra Reservoir, second is on a gate at Thompson Dam and the third is attaching a rubbish bin to a post at Yallourn open cut lookout):

I really like the colors and wasn't sure at first if I would have this series in black and white or not but I don't think I will. More to come...

First Photos

I got a new DSLR camera as an early birthday present! Yay! It's a Nikon D3100. I did a lot of research about which camera to get and decided on the Nikon due to the loads of excellent reviews it had and the ease of use which the reviews also assured me of. Why a DSLR? Well, I decided that I needed a hobby besides going to the gym and going out for brunch with friends on the weekend and I love looking at excellent photography. So, there you have it!

Here's a few of my first photos. I've started experimenting with the different scene modes, e.g. night mode, close-ups, portrait, landscape, etc.
